Top Ranked University
Founded in 1880 and located in the heart of Los Angeles, the University of Southern California (USC) is one of the world's leading private research universities and is the oldest independent teaching and research university in the West. The USC Viterbi School of Engineering is ranked seventh in the nation (third among private schools) in the U.S. News & World Report rankings for 2005. Engineers across the nation can pursue their master's degrees online through the school's Distance Education Network (DEN) while working full-time.
HOW IT WORKS
Courses are transmitted from studio classrooms at the USC campus via an extensive e-learning system to enable you to access class anytime via the Internet. Instruction is highly interactive; if you are watching class live, you can ask the professor questions by telephone or threaded chat discussions. If you are unable to view your class at the scheduled time, lectures are archived for the entire semester for your convenience.
1. Courses are available on the Internet live and on-demand.
When you log on with your username and password, you will be able to watch the courses that you are enrolled in.
All courses are streamed live and are also accessible for the entire semester.
2. Course notes, handouts, and homework assignments will be posted online.
You can download course notes and homework assignments from your student portal. Homework assignments are
transmitted to and from DEN via e-mail and/or fax. In-class notes are digitized for viewing and printing - so you can focus
on listening to the content of each lecture and follow along with the printed notes.
3. Mid-term and final examinations.
Examinations for students in the Los Angeles region are taken on campus. For students outside of Los Angeles, exams are proctored at local area testing centers arranged by DEN.
