National Nurses Award—The College Network, Inc. honors Providence Healthcare Network employee with a national scholarship.

Waco, Texas—The College Network awarded Chris Pryor, an LVN (licensed vocational nurse) for the Providence Subacute Care Unit at St. Catherine Center, a scholarship in recognition of his service and his commitment in continuing his education. Pryor was among a select few honored in the nation with a scholarship by The College Network. An awards ceremony is scheduled for July 18 at 10:00AM at the St. Catherine Center.

“Many of our employees are benefiting from The College Network and the educational service they provide,” said Mary Terry, RN and Nurse Recruiter for Providence Healthcare Network. “The College Network’s partnership with participating universities has made it possible for Providence employees to obtain advanced education in health care careers that they may otherwise not have achieved.”

Providence Hospital was among six health care facilities across the United States selected to receive a scholarship from The College Network to award to a nurse professional who makes a difference in his or her health care community and in the lives of patients. Each nurse received a scholarship valued up to $7500 to use toward completing his or her education. The College Network’s scholarship fund was created to support health care facilities in continuing to meet their educational goals and improve health care delivery.

“We want to support a profession that gives in so many ways,” said Gary Eyler, Chairman and CEO of The College Network. “We are dedicated to making educational solutions affordable and accessible—helping nurses to ensure the well-being of their careers and profession. It’s The College Network’s way of making a difference.”

Pryor began his career with Providence Healthcare Network as a student tech at the DePaul Psychiatric Center. With assistance through the Providence Scholarship Program, he became an LVN for Providence Subacute Care Unit at St Catherine Center in April 2008. Professionals at the St. Catherine Center recognized Pryor as being committed to high-quality care and compassion for patients. The quality of care Pryor practices is what the Providence Hospital Network is known. Pryor is currently pursuing his Associate of Science in Nursing.

Providence Healthcare Network is on the forefront of health care delivery in Central Texas. Providence is an organization with a culture of service, teamwork, and leadership and is committed to furthering the education of current and future employees to the benefit of our community. The College Network scholarship awarded to Pryor recognizes the importance of nurses and the significant contribution they make to the health care of patients and the community.
